About the Faces Program

Schedule a Meeting

Faces is a cultural exchange program from Guatemala, founded in 2005. Through the program schools welcome young Guatemalan students in their community with the purpose of cultural enrichment.
Guatemalan ambassadors stay with volunteer host families and participate in school activities.
The objetive of the program is to provide a well rounded life enriching experience for all parties involved.
Through the experience participants and host families develop a wider perspective of the world, learn from a different culture and go beyond your confort zone.
Duration: 7 weeks
Dates: October 14th - December 9th

FAQs

Absolutely. Families are not expected to do anything different, just welcome the Guatemalan student as one more member of the family. Ambassadors are expected to adapt to the family’s routine, follow household rules and schedules and “go with the flow”.
Yes, host parents establish rules, curfew hours and permissions as they do with their own children.
Host families kindly provide homestay for our ambassadors and make them part of their daily routine. Guatemalan parents make sure to cover all school related expenses such as materials, lunches and field trips. Additionally, they have international medical insurance covered and bring a debit card for incidentals.
Yes. Guatemalan exchange students do not need their own bedroom or bathroom, they actually enjoy sharing. We only ask that they have their own bed and a place for their belongings.
No. Our ambassadors have their own schedule at school. This is because we want them to share like siblings at home and during the weekends. This way host siblings can focus on their academic activities without any distractions or additional responsibility.
